Our Story


  • “Take a Break & I’ll Bake”, is a family owned and operated southern style, bakery business, founded in October 2012. It is run by the dynamic duo, husband and wife entrepreneurs, Luis and Faith Osorio.
  • This business was started because of a love and joy of cooking. Luis and Faith went through different trials and errors, while never giving up and through it all, they knew it was time to open a store of their own!  Luis took a leap of faith; quit his 9-5 job; started to do his research and determined that the best place for the business was in Brooklyn. They opened their first storefront in April 2016 called, “Take a Break & I’ll Bake Cafe”. As they say, “timing is everything”.  The very next month the couple gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Lorenzo.  In essence they had twins, WOW! Their exquisite Cafe menu provides all of their freshly baked southern style, cakes and pie.  They also offer “Homemade Ice Cream”, which was Faith’s Grandfather’s recipe, along with, “Paninis” and authentic “French crepes” with a “southern flair of sweet or savory”.
  • This is an “Internet Cafe,” which also offers local, “Brooklyn brewed beer” and a wide selection of “red and white wines”. For brunch most customers enjoy their “Mimosas and Peach Bellinis”.  “Take a Break & I’ll Bake Cafe” will be selling their award winning delectables in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn for many years, so come on by and try it for yourself and feel the experience with us.
